If you’ve recently had bloodwork done, you might be wondering:

“Do I need to repeat my lab tests, or can you use the results from my doctor?”

The good news? In most cases, we can use your existing lab work.

When We Can Use Your Existing Labs

If your lab tests were done recently and your hair loss has not significantly worsened since then, we can typically use those results. We’ll review them carefully and determine if anything is missing.

When We Might Recommend Additional Tests

There are cases where we may suggest a few extra lab markers, especially if:

  • Your results don’t include key hair-related markers (such as iron, ferritin, thyroid function, or vitamin D levels).
  • Your lab work is more than a year old.
  • Your hair loss has worsened since your last test.

If we believe additional testing is necessary, we’ll make targeted recommendations rather than repeating unnecessary tests.

What’s the Next Step?

If you already have recent lab results, bring them to your consultation. We’ll review them together and determine whether any follow-ups are needed.

At Northwestern Hair, our goal is to make sure you have the most accurate and useful data—without unnecessary testing.
