What Is Shock Loss?

Shock loss is a term used to describe the shedding of small amounts of hair following an FUE procedure. It is normal, and most patients experience this phenomenon. Shock loss is not harmful to your scalp, but it is a natural part of the healing process.

How long does a FUE hair replacement procedure take?

The length of time it takes for a hair transplant procedure varies based on the type of procedure you have, your health and any other factors. The average time is around 6-12 hours.If you have 1,000 grafts, you can expect your procedure to be anywhere between four and eight hours. However, if you have 4,000 grafts, you can expect a procedure that lasts between 8 and 12 hours. Now, this is all amplified by the technique. If we're doing a basic FUE, we can expect to move as efficiently I just stated. However, if we're using our Discrete technique, we're not giving you a haircut. That procedure takes a little bit longer to work because we're working in between the hairs to make sure that we get the best result possible that no one can detect.

How active can you be after a hair replacement procedure?

You should avoid strenuous activities like running or playing sports for at least four weeks after the procedure, but most people are able to return to their usual activities within 3-4 weeks.

What is scarring like after a hair transplantation?

Scars are a natural part of the hair transplant procedure. Scarring is not uncommon, and it will heal with time. If you have concerns about the appearance of your scars, our doctors can recommend options for treatment and prevention.

What is a hair graft when referring to a hair transplant?

Hair grafts are harvested from one area of the scalp, while hair plugs are taken from a particular location within that area. Hair grafts do not involve as much skin tissue, whereas hair plugs involve a larger amount of skin tissue per extraction.
